The Codex of Investigations
Every investigation begins with a question.
The Codex is where the questions, evidence and discoveries are gathered — masterpieces, artefacts, people, places, documents and details that begin to connect across centuries.
Within it, individual Codices open around particular subjects — the Mona Lisa, Titian, the Trinity — each a living investigation, revisited and expanded as new evidence emerges. Each investigation adds another piece.

Who is she?
The most famous face on Earth — and more than five centuries later, questions remain.
Fine Art Detective begins with a deceptively simple question. What happens when we stop looking at the Mona Lisa as an icon — and start looking at her as evidence?

A Question
Something doesn't quite fit.
A Clue
A face. A background. A landscape.
A symbol. A signature. A date.
A pigment. A varnish. An underpainting.
A stamp. A seal. A thumbprint.
An object out of place.
An identity. A subject. An event.
A detail almost overlooked.
A Connection
Another masterpiece. Another artefact.
Another person. Another place. Another time.
The Evidence
What history, science and the surviving record can actually show.
But What If…?
Sometimes the evidence changes the question.

One Renaissance painting. Decades of research. A trail that would eventually lead somewhere unexpected.
Historical records. Scientific examination. Changes beneath the surface. Symbols, identities, people and places beginning to connect across centuries.
This is where the Fine Art Detective investigation began.
The Research Dossier
Beyond the surface
What can be seen is only the beginning.
Historical research, provenance, scientific examination, technical imaging and comparative evidence can reveal what lies beyond the visible surface — and sometimes raise entirely new questions.

The investigation goes to London & Italy
Tracking Titian's Treasure
Beginning in London, with the painting itself, the field investigation follows the evidence into Italy — through the places where Renaissance history was made.
Following the evidence to the places where the story was made — and where it may yet be rewritten.

Become part of the investigation
The field journey begins with the painting in London, then follows the evidence into Italy.
Tracking Titian's Treasure begins in London — where the painting is held — before following the evidence through the cities, collections and places at the heart of the story in Italy, meeting scholars, exploring connections, testing ideas and documenting what we discover along the way.
The journey will create original research, footage and material for future episodes, Codices and new investigations.
One journey. Many investigations.
The trail leads to Italy. What we find there could change the investigation — and even history.

A document. A location. An artefact. A collection. A specialist.
A connection we haven't made.
Sometimes the next clue begins with a conversation.
